Having played my competitive pairing a lot recently I wanted to play a couple of different lists, including a Goreshade list I wanted to try, testing out the interesting combination of his Feat, Serpent’s Coil and Frost Field. I played against Duncan, using the new Slaugter Fleet list with Skarre2. Duncan won the roll but opted to go second to take advantage of the wall in the left zone, so I get moving

The left unit of Ellowuyr get Ghost Walk to get them through the forest, and the right unit get Frost Field ready for next turn. My forces run up, with the AFG on the left flank and the Electomancers behind my main lines. I spread out as much as I can to protect against the large number of AOEs that will be coming my way

I have moved one of my Ellowuyr slightly too far up, so after Skarre Black Spots the unit, the Kraken can use the small gun to kill him, allowing 2 shots with the 5 inch AOE gun, killing off a large amount of my infantry. The rest of Duncan’s forces run up, but between casting Admonition, Black Spot and Death Ward on the Kraken, Skarre is camping nothing behind her wall.

With Skarre camping nothing I go for the glory shot with the AFG, spiking my dice to connect with the first attack, Slamming her down and dealing a reasonable chunk of damage. The Chimera runs up for Goreshade to Arc a Hex Blast into her, finishing her off.

VICTORY

I don’t think I would have even tried this assassination with any other caster, but with Goreshade I just didn’t think I had any other way through the game. I love the Ellowuyr Swordsmen, but they fold over so quickly to any blast damage, so become so limited as to what they can drop into. We considered playing out the game from a non-assassination angle but opted to switch my list and re-rack instead. I will probably never play Goreshade again, but at least I now have a win with every caster.
