After a weekend of pretty intensive practice games I needed a little palette cleanser and so went to see my clubmate Mark for a couple of games. I wanted to try a weird Elara list with a load of Destors, and went up against Mark’s really strong Thagrosh list. This was probably going to be a bit rough. I got the first turn and we got moving.

I put Scything Touch up onto one of my Destors and get everything up the table, leaving myself just out of Assault threats of the Warspears. I am going to need a pretty incredible alpha strike if I’m going to grind a win out of this.

The Blightbringer puts up its additional armour Aura and runs up the centre of the table. Thagrosh puts up Fog of War and Draconic Blessing onto the right unit of Warspears. The Ogrun advance up to behind the wall of Hellmouth Tentacles and prepares to take my attack.

It really isn’t worth trying to take the Hellmouths out at this point, the maths just doesn’t work out, so instead I Feat with Elara and, after taking out the Tentacles with Sentinels, charge past with the Destors into the Ogrun, killing the whole min unit and all but 2 of the right max unit. Not going to lie, it doesn’t feel great.

With Draconic Blessing and the Blightbringer Aura the P+S of the Ogrun is easily enough to take out my Destors, as well as a decent number of Sentinels. I have very little left and concede.

DEFEAT

Note to self, do not take bad lists. I used to be able to do this with Cygnar but the “less good” Ret stuff is really bad. Let’s try this again with a proper list.
