Kayazy Eliminators

This weekend I played a 3 round event in Bolton, further testing my pair of Rahn and Vyros2. Round 1 saw me up against Aidan, rocking Magnus2, a caster that I haven’t played against in quite a while. Aidan won the first turn.

Aidan respects the threat ranges of the AFGs and gets up the table. Escort is cast onto Magnus.

I decide it’s worth flinging out a few AOEs with the right AFG, but none scatter onto the Idrians. A chimera runs up to within 5” of the Eliminators and a Chain Blast takes them out. I should have cast Polarity Shield onto the Chimera to protect it, but instead blocked it up with Halberdiers.

Aidan can get a Nomad to the Chimera, but it costs the Renegade’s single shot gun to do so. Some bad dice mean the Chimera lives with all relevant systems intact. Some Halberdiers are shot off and the left AFG takes some damage.

I commit pretty heavily, knowing that next turn will be Magnus’ Feat turn. I destroy one Nomad, seriously damage and disrupt the Mangler, take out Eiryss, and leave the right Nomad on a handful of boxes. I don’t score due to concentrating on attrition. 0-0

Aidan concentrates on trying to take out the Phoenix, but isn’t able to do so, and so concentrates on dealing with as many Halberdiers as he can, removing a lot of them from the table. 0-0

With the Phoenix still alive I am able to get off a great Combustion onto the remaining Idrians before finishing off the Mangler. I take out the remaining heavies and score twice to lead 2-0.

Magnus himself takes out the Phoenix, but the attrition game has completely gone. 4-1 to me.

I contest Aidan’s zone to win 6-1.

VICTORY

-      List felt really good in this matchup, with the Ghost Snipers dealing constant useful damage into the jacks.
-      Taking out the Eliminators early was a big deal, and would have been worth it even if I had lost the Chimera in return.
-      I realise that Magnus lists can be stronger than this, but I feel like the speed and hitting power of this list will always have game.
